The rise of AI-driven learning tools has changed the way teams can acquire knowledge. Adaptive e-learning platforms and AI-powered coaching assistants are great…. when used in the right way, to enhance and complement learning
While AI can streamline training and provide instant insights, it should complement, not necessarily replace, human-led learning experiences.
Why AI is a useful learning tool:
✅ Scalability & Accessibility – AI-powered training can reach global teams instantly.
✅ Personalization – AI adapts content based on individual progress and needs.
✅ Instant Feedback – Automated systems can provide real-time corrections and recommendations.
✅ Data-Driven Insights – AI tracks patterns in learning and helps refine training programs.
However, despite these advantages, human interaction in my opinion remains irreplaceable!
I remember key lessons not just because of the content, but also because of who taught those lessons, their style, their manner, their approach, the things that made those lessons stand out and stick in the memory!
A mathematics teacher of mine once said to the class:
“Please let me know if you do not understand the problems, I can find 10 different ways to explain this topic, one of those ways will stick!”
He was 100% correct, and he really could!
Often learning and training needs a person who can find different ways to identify, represent or explain how something works in a way that resonates.
When running my own training courses I take the same approach, his words have always stuck with me, finding different ways to identify and describe a problem and how to solve it in order to get everyone in the room on board!
This can be as simple as finding an analogy that the audience can latch onto, “Imagine this scenario on a football pitch…..”, “Imagine you are working for a company that builds…..xyz”.
The Power of In-Person Training, Mentoring & Workshops
🔹 Adaptability – Trainers can read the room, adjust their approach, and respond to questions in ways AI cannot.
🔹 Body Language & Non-Verbal Cues – A huge part of communication is non-verbal.
🔹 Collaborative Learning – Group discussions, hands-on activities, and interactions deepen understanding and retention.
🔹 Mentorship & Team Bonding – Learning is more than just acquiring knowledge; it’s about building relationships, culture, and trust.
The Best Approach as we move forward? A Hybrid Model
Rather than viewing AI and human training as competitors, the real power can come from integrating both!
